The ModHopper module has an RP-SMA female connector that enables direct connectivity to a rubber ducky antenna, but depending on your use case or with use of our embedded ModHoppers in a UL508A panel, the flexibility to be wired with cabling extensions and other antenna options.
Before utilizing external solutions, we would always recommend moving the ModHopper closer to its final install location to avoid antenna wiring extensions when possible. Any wiring extension will have some amount of loss through it.
For an off-the-shelf solution, Leviton has a 20ft cable extension kit: R9120-ANT
That includes all of the following hardware-
Third party antennas and extensions can be sourced, but it is best to estimate the amount of power loss through your planned length of extension cable and then add back in the gain of the type of antenna that is chosen. Using LMR195 cabling, we generally recommend extensions limited to 50 feet.
When mounting external antennas, make sure to follow any rules, regulations, and requirements that may pertain to the installation, like including appropriate grounding and/or use of lightning arrestors.
When sourcing 3rd party antennas, the following basic specs should help to identify a compatible alternative:

- 902-928MHz ISM band
- 50 ohms nominal impedance
- 2:1 VSWR
