Initial BMO Account Setup

Introduction

The following information covers the initial setup of a new account on the levitonbmo.com cloud submetering platform. If you already have a login to levitonbmo.com, you can skip the steps below and import the new Leviton Energy Monitoring Hub (EMH) datalogger using the EMH application, which allows you to connect to a new device that is pushing data to the platform.

As a prerequisite, the on site Leviton hardware must be fully configured and internet connectivity established prior to creating a login or importing meter data from that site.

Items to have in advance

Please have the following information ready for the quickest setup experience:

Initial account login creation

Visit BMO at https://levitonbmo.com/ and click

Select Sign Up with MAC Address.
Enter any one of the MAC addresses for your EMH. The MAC address is the EMH’s serial number.
  • Enter the MAC as twelve characters with no separators.
  • This page does not accept delimiters (e.g., 00:1E:C6:...).
Select Leviton EMH as the Address Type.
Click Submit.

Got an error message?
  • Double‑check the MAC address, and if needed, confirm it with the party who provided it.
  • It is possible the MAC address is correct, but the EMH has not yet successfully uploaded to levitonbmo.com.
  • Verify the EMH’s internet connectivity and ensure it has been fully configured before attempting account setup.
  • The LAN administrator for the network your EMH devices are connected to may need to review the relevant network configuration documentation.
  • If you have multiple EMHs, try another MAC address to proceed with account creation. The issue with the original EMH can be investigated afterward.
Enter your Organization Info, including the Client Name, using the details of the company, property management group, or similar entity.
The User Email will become the primary admin login for the account. After setup, you may invite additional users as admins or read‑only basic users. For now, use an email address you can access immediately.

After submitting the form, the email address you provided will receive a message from no-reply@levitonbmo.com.
Check your inbox and any folders where filtered messages may appear.
Finally, click the link in the email and complete the remaining prompts until you reach the main levitonbmo.com landing page.
Go to the Properties page to set up the property or properties that will group your EMH devices. Click the

button to create a property. Typically, one or more EMHs covering a building (or multiple buildings) are grouped together, but end users may structure this however they prefer.
Certain apps and reports in BMO run based on the selected property name. In some cases, it is best to create a property that groups meters tied to a single utility meter or bill.

Once your properties are created, the Leviton M&V Support team (mandvsupport@leviton.com) will assist with the remaining BMO setup.
Please reach out to them with:
  • Your software license key codes (can be typed out if a photo or scan isn't readily available to forward)
  • EMH serial number(s)
  • Your preferred EMH‑to‑property associations
If you would like to enable additional meter datapoints beyond kWh energy usage, let them know your preference. Some meters provide 15‑minute kW average demand (useful for identifying peak demand), while advanced meters may offer additional parameters such as per‑phase power factor and power quality metrics like THD.

Next steps

The M&V Support team will assist with the remaining account setup and typically reach back out within one business day. After that, you’ll be able to begin using the available features to quickly and easily determine per‑meter energy usage, create charts and dashboards, and—using our optional modules—heatmap usage across different days of the week and hours of the day. You can also take advantage of time‑of‑use categorization and enable the system to generate invoices and email your tenants.

Sections 3–5 of the BMO User Guide will help familiarize you with the main features of the BMO software and user login management. If there’s something specific you’re looking to accomplish, let the support team know and they can show you which capabilities will best help you achieve it.

Managing the display of datapoints

If your account was already set up previously and has its software licenses applied, you may proceed to import and manage existing meter data to your account. You can import as many Leviton Energy Monitoring Hub datalogger(s) and devices associated, but the datapoints associated with each device is what counts against your BMO licensing. To review how many datapoints you have available at any time:
1. Hover your mouse over your user icon (on the header of BMO, it's the circle on the far right)
2. Click on "Data Utilization"

Note:
Inactivating a property hides the available datapoints and will still count towards the total used.

Viewing existing datapoints

Datapoints already imported can be viewed easily in two different ways.

Top-down approach from the Devices page
1. On the Header, click on Devices
2. Click into a device, and each datapoint for that device will be displayed across one or more charts

All points listed as a spreadsheet
1. Hover your mouse over your user icon (on the header of BMO, it's the circle on the far right)
2. Click on Points
Note: Weather datapoints and the device are included and do not count against the total datapoints in your BMO account. The weather info is pulled from internet sources based on the Property's address.

Deleting existing datapoints

While viewing existing datapoints in either way above it is possible to delete datapoints. This frees up used datapoints that counts against the software license(s) that cover it.
Deleting the device deletes all datapoints associated with it.
Deletion removes the device(s) and datapoint(s) from being readily accessible in your account; your meter data continues to be securely retained on our databases.

Importing new devices and datapoints

Use the import app to bring in your meter datapoints.
  1. Click on the Apps button (on the header, it's the nine square grid icon on the far left)
  2. Locate and click on the "EMH" app to Connect to a new device that is pushing data to the platform
  3. Create the property (if needed) that the EMH should be associated with - think of properties as a way to differentiate groupings of your EMH(s) in the system
  4. Click on the property, then either
    1. click on an existing gateway (EMH) to import additional devices and datapoints from that device
    2. use the "Import Gateway" button to bring in an new gateway (EMH)
  5. Enter the HUB MAC address (which is also the serial number) and the upload password - the upload password is usually set to 'password' by default
You'll now be on a screen that shows a column for devices (center), and then for the points on each device (right).
We recommend selecting up to five devices at a time - your browser and PC memory may not be able to handle doing everything at once

1. Check the checkboxes for the devices to import
2. Set the device type; it is always safe to select "Power Meter" for all devices but you can use the other categories for systemization
3. Expand each device on the Points column, then select the datapoint(s) of interest; avoid adding or removing devices at this point as it will reset all point selections to unchecked
4. Locate and click the "Submit" button in the bottom right corner of the page.

Repeat these steps as needed to bring in all of the remaining devices and points.
