There are several terms used in these training articles, some of which may be unfamiliar to you. This is a short list of said terms and information about how we use them. Feel free to comment before if you'd like us to add some to the list! the term in the parenthesis following the name is the common abbreviation for said term.
BACnet: Building Management Protocol, controlled by ASHRAE (bacnet.org), to facilitate communication between Building Automation and or Management Systems (BAS/BMS) and other devices. Common protocols are BACnet/IP, a UDP/IP protocol, BACnet/SC a TCP/IP protocol, and BACnet/MSTP an RS485 protocol. Leviton supports BACnet/IP and BACnet/MSTP in My Building systems.
Device: Someone of a context sensitive term but in a well disciplined discussion refers to a load control device, sensor, keypad, or other connected to and managed by a room controller.
Node: Something connected to a communication network.
Room Controller (RC): A room controller a device that is installed within the room that manages the lighting within the room.
