What does the "source/auto" button do on the auto-switching wall plate?

What is the button on the wall plate for on the left hand side middle? Does it light up? (The source/auto button?)

The Source/Auto button sets up the manual or autoswitching source selection functions.

    i. When the button is pressed for about 3 seconds, the autoswitching mode is activated and the button is backlit green.  In this mode, the last source plugged in is switched to the output/display.  For example, if the VGA input is plugged in and is being displayed, when I plug in an HDMI source, it will automatically switch to display the HDMI source to the output/display.

ii. Pressing the button again for about 3 seconds activates the manual source selection mode and the backlit green light extinguishes.  In this mode, each momentary press of the button switches to the next input.  For example, starting at HDMI 1, pressing the button switches to the HDMI 2 source.  Pressing it again, switches to the VGA source and so on, toggling in a counterclockwise direction from one input to the next.
