Difference between CM and CMR cable ratings on patch cords?

Darby Scout

The CM/CMR designations refer to the fire ratings of the cable.
Our typical patch cords are CM rated – suitable for use in any install that not
in a plenum or riser environment.  CMR = riser-rated cable, which maintains
a higher fire rating than CM cable to prevent fire from spreading between
floors (suitable for vertical, or riser applications, less typical application
for a patch cable).
