I have a question concerning the low voltage switch #1081. I teach lighting controls classes and I use this particular switch. My question is "Does putting 120volts AC through this switch, cause damage to the contacts. I have had to replace a few of these switches over the past several years and I do not read anything an the manufactureres spec about over voltage.
The 1081 low voltage switch is for a 24 volt AC or DC connection not 120VAC which can damage the contacts. I would recommend a switch such as the 1256 (15A) or 1257 (20A) which are both single pole, double throw with center off switches and meant for 120 or 277VA.
