What is the difference between zirconia ceramic and phosphorous bronze in fiber adapters?

Scout

Zirconia ceramic sleeves are typically used for singlemode and laser-optimized multimode applications, as they provide a tighter tolerace (to allow the fiber to mate most precisely) and are a more durable material.

Phosphorous bronze is typically used in adapters for multimode (not laser-optimized) applications, and is sufficient for these types of applications because multimode fiber has a large core and therefore doesn’t require the precision of the zirconia ceramic.
