What is a cord clamp and what is its purpose?

    It prevents strain on the terminals. Without it, wiring can tear and become disconnected from the terminals. It can lead to premature plug or connector failure. There are two types of cord clamps. Internal clamps automatically tighten during assembly and are typically used for commercial devices. External clamps must be tightened during cable assembly and are typically used for industrial devices. They provide greater strain relief to the terminals and are the best choice for rugged applications.
