What is the difference between "A" & "B"

The physical difference between the A(T568A) and the B(T568B) standards, is that the green and orange pairs swap positions.

T568A is more commonly used in the US for residential applications.  The Leviton structured media (residential) panels all use T568A wiring.

T568B is more commonly used in the US for commercial applications. Most Leviton commercial products feature T568B wiring labels with T568A wiring instructions available by flipping or peeling a label.

Either the T568A or T568B standard may be used, as long as you use the same standard on both ends of the cable.

    Leviton Recommendations:

      • Use T568A for residential (unless adding to an existing T568B cable installation)
      • Use T568B for commercial (unless adding to an existing T568A cable installation)
      • Do not mix T568A with T568B on any site
