Troubleshooting: Port Forwarding / Virtual Servers Internet Gateway / 4-Port Gigabit Router

**This post applies to Version 2 of the 47611-GT4 and the 47611-GB4 ONLY.  To determine which version of the device you own, click here.

 

Possible errors that may occur while attempting to use the Port Forwarding / Virtual Server feature on the Internet Gateway / 4-Port Gigabit Router:

 

Error message - Port Already in Use:

 

To view which ports are currently in use by devices on your network, (this is assuming you are already on the Virtual Server page), select any device listed under "Servers". Selecting a device will fill in the "Properties" box below with information on which ports each device is using.

 

IP Address for your device is not showing in the "Server" menu on the Virtual Server page:

 

While logged in to the Internet Gateway / 4-port Gigabit Router, do the following:

 

  • Click on the Tools folder.
  • Select the "PC Database" sub menu.
  • At the bottom of the screen, click on "Advanced"
  • In the "PC Properties" box that is now available, enter the name of the device (in the "Name" field)
  • In the IP Address section, select "Fixed IP Address".  Enter the IP address of the device.
  • The "MAC Address" section should be left on the default option for "Automatic discovery"
  • Click "Add as New Entry" button.  The IP address will now be listed in the Servers field on the Virtual Server tab.

 

 

 

 

Page goes into an extended loading state, then times out:

 

  • If you have anti-virus softare, you will need to deactivate it while opening a port.
  • If you have other routers, they will need to be turned off while opening a port.
