It's possible that multiple pieces of active (powered) equipment inside the SMC could generate enough heat to cause a failure. If you believe this is an issue, use a extender bracket frame. This is a 2" vented bracket that bolts between the SMC and SMC door to provide both additional space for cabling and better heat dissipation.
The extender bracket is available for both the 28" and 42" enclosures
