HAI by Leviton KNX Gateway

Q: ZWave-ZigBee-KNX: why all the different protocols and which one is best?
A: HAI by Leviton prides itself on supporting many open platforms. Each technology protocol is application specific. We would hate to limit our custom integrators (installing dealers) to only one protocol as it would cut out the integration of hundreds of third party products that can further enhance the connected home. For instance, Z-Wave allows us to utilize Leviton’s Vizia RF product line, and ZigBee lets us tap into utility/energy companies who use the technology in meters. ZigBee has greater range due to stronger wireless radios, but there are many more Z-Wave products in the marketplace right now. Adding KNX helps us tap into almost 7,000 products that we couldn’t control previously, primarily in areas like Europe. (Our products are available in over a dozen languages.)

Opt-X HD Fiber Optic System

Q: Do our competitors have capability to splice with their 96 fiber enclosures?
A: Yes, Panduit, Systimax, and Ortronic do have the capacity to have splice trays install in the enclosure. Splicing in the Data Center is a small percentage overall to a pre-terminated solution.

Q: If you have a blank between two cassettes, how do you remove the blank, no lever?
A: The blank plate does not have a lever like the MTP cassette or pass through adapter plate. There is a finger tab that you will grab on to in installing and removing the blank plate.

Q: Does the Opt-X Evolve come in a 1 RU?
A: Opt-X Evolve is the platform or footprint for the pass through adapter plate and MTP cassettes. The Opt-X Evolve components will go into an Opt-X Ultra HD or Opt-X 1000i HD (in1RU or 2RU) enclosure.

Concrete Mountable SMC Enclosure

Q: What keeps the concrete from back filling against the back to make placing modules through the holes impossible?
A: There are two levels of plates. The first is the mounting plate for the modules inside the enclosure. Behind that is a solid back plate that not only protects the enclosure from leaking, it also adds a great deal of strength and supports the structural integrity of the enclosure.

SPD Panels with Integral Disconnect Switch

Q: Explain "Nominal Discharge Current Rating"
A: This is a rating, with the symbol “I_N”, based upon a new test that was added to the UL standard for SPD’s (1449) during the last file review (3^rd edition). The new test & rating was an attempt to take some of the mystery out of surge panels and allow customers to directly compare manufacturer based on surge performance. The test is somewhat detailed so I will not get into the specific requirements, but note that there are 4 standard ratings: 3kA, 5kA, 10kA and 20kA…and the higher the rating, the better the surge performance.

VerifEye Series 3300/3500 Meters, 0.5% Mini Meter Flush Mount, and Series 8000 Preview

Q: Will the KNX Gateway collect data from a Series 2000 meter through the RS485 interface?
A: We have not tested the HAI KNX gateway with our Series 2000 meter.

Q: It is the communications capabilities of the 3300 and 3500 that separates them from our 3000 series right?
A: Yes, isolated communications. Communication protocols - Series 3300: RS-485, Series 3500: Ethernet

Q:Can you confirm that we can achieve revenue grade accuracy using both split core and solid core CT's with this meter? I thought we could only achieve this with solid core CT's.
A: That is correct. We can achieve revenue grade accuracy with our Solid Core CT’s only. Split Core CT’s are not revenue grade.

Q: Does the 3300 & 3500 have Red LED light inside to indicate Incorrect Phase, is that still inside or only on LCD read-out
A: There are several diagnostic tools built into the Series 3300 and Series 3500 meter to ensure the meter and CT’s are installed correctly and functioning properly. The Energy Flow arrow should always point to the right, if the arrow is pointing to the left the CT may be installed backwards or on the wrong phase.

Q: You mentioned 100 - 200 Solid CT's, but we actually offer up to & including 400?
A: Yes, we offer 100A, 200A and 400A solid core CT’s in our kitted versions.

EVSE Update

Q: Just to confirm, we can charge the Tesla can't we? One of my contractors wants to install one of our units at their local dealership.

A: Yes. Need an adaptor to the J1772 connector.

Q: Are there cord length options for the EVB45 and EVB40?

A: No, EVB45 is 18’ and EVB40 is 25’.

Q: Does our GFCI trip at 4 - 6 milliamps or 27 - 30 milliamps?

A: 5mA.

Q: Tell us again what the EVSE power provides what on the L2 40A?

A: 9.6KW.

Q: What is EREV?

A: Extended range electric vehicle.

USB Competitive Comparison

Q: Why don't we indicate which USB is "Fast Charge" and "TR" embossed on face.

A: We are adding a pad printed H to the face.

Q: Why does our device protrude so much from the front of the faceplate?

A: It is the same as the 7599 GFCI. It is not any bigger.

Vacancy Sensors

Q: Do we have a minimum load requirement for the LED's?

A: No minimum load requirement. Leviton commercial powerpacks and wallbox sensors all use Latching Relays which are LED ready and do not require minimum loads.

Q: Why don’t we offer a wall plate with our wall switch sensors? I get questioned every time I sell these.

A: Commercial sensors are not sold with wallplates due to the variety of locations and therfore variety of wallplates that could be required to meet project needs. Occupancy Sensors are about saving energy and smart choices reducing waste. Adding a wallplate that may be thrown away is wasteful and Leviton has provided the customer with the smart choice to reduce waste and select the required wallplate. We have Standard, Wide, Nylon, ABS, 3 gang, 4 gang, screwless, 2 gang toggle with decora, 2 gang with decora and blank, etc. The choices become so varied and a single wall plate just doesn't add value to the smart customer.

Q: There seems to be a misunderstanding that our self-adaptive technology means that a walk through test doesn't need to be done. Please discuss.

A: Walk tests are always required, actually 2 tests for end user satisfaction (1. Perimeter walk test – used for testing entry points and farthest points within the room/space for turing the lights ON, 2. Space usage test – used for testing people sitting at a desk and typing or walking slowly within a space to keep the lights ON.) These tests are required from an installer to guarantee they have performed their portion of the project – Placement and Configuration to the project site requirements (Leviton provides the operation portion and optimizes the performance of the sensor for best energy savings in the installed space, the optimization occurring is Auto-Gain, Auto-Adapt and Auto-Filter). We have developed Tech Articles on the these types of subjects, which can be found on Leviton.com.

Q: Does T24 mean, if you are using "High Efficacy Lamps", you don't need vacancy sensors, only with "High Efficacy Lamps"?

A: Correct, you are required to have Vacancy Sensors on Low Efficacy Lighting Fixture. You can use occupancy or vacancy sensors on High Efficacy Fixtures

Q: Is the "HIS" feature on all our existing, if a customer converts from incandescent to LED.

A: Yes. High In-Rush Stability means that they get a Latching Relay and Zero Crossing to assure the load connection (Ballast or Driver) cannot arch or damage the relay operation. All Leviton Commercial Power Packs and Sensors are using this now - which means they are all LED Ready plus and robust and reliable for high in-rush electronic ballasts.

Q: Will we still have ambient light control that enables our sensors to be "Vacancy & Occupancy", this is an "Industry Exclusive Feature"!

A: Ambient light control (a photocell) is part of all the occupancy sensors to provide a “hold lights off” feature when enough daylight is present in the room. A vacancy sensor, due to manual ON, is not conducive to an end user for “hold lights off” (the end user would be pushing the button for lights ON and nothing would happen resulting in a Field Complaint) and therefore we do not have a photocell in the n Vacancy sensors.

Modbus addresses

I have six Leviton series 2000 meters that I'm trying to make communicate with an Energy Monitoring Hub. They're daisy-chained to the RS485 port on the hub. If I connect all six, the hub doesn't communicate with any of them. If I just connect the first in the chain, the hub sees it with a Modbus address of 1. I'm assuming that all six meters have a Modbus address of 1 and conflict with each other when they're all connected. How do I change their Modbus addresses?

ChargePoint

Q: Does each of the single level 2 units require ChargePoint service fee? So would the dual level 2 unit require 2 service agreements?
A: The ChargePoint Network Service Fee is charged per Level 2 charging port per year. The number of network service fees will equal the number of Level 2 charging ports regardless of the number of stations.

Q: Leviton applied for a Grant in NY State, what is the status of the awarding of that Grant?
A: The NYSERDA grant response is not expected until December 2012.

Q: Are all the units built in CA. USA made?
A: Country of Origin is USA.

Q: Have you any key account for working in international market... Colombia for example
A: Charging stations are sold in the same manner as all other Leviton products. The local Leviton representative addresses the inquiry.

Please keep in mind that Leviton’s charging stations, networked and non-networked, are designed for use with J1772 compliant vehicles.

The ChargePoint Networked stations sold by Leviton require cellular communication with the ChargePoint Network. The stations available from inventory will operate in the US and Canada. For network availability outside of the US and Canada, please contact the EVR-Green team at 1-877-338-7473 or evrgreen@leviton.com.

Q: What if a customer has a Rewards Card for food and gas purchases. Can they use their Reward Card to receive awards? My food store doesn’t charge for EV station usage. Can a customer receive rewards toward gas or food purchases?
A: Using ChargePoint Connections, the grocery store owner may offer free or reduced-price charging to EV drivers with both a grocery store loyalty card and a ChargePoint card. This ChargePoint Connections feature is included with the ChargePoint Network service fee. Using EV charging as a way to earn reward points is not currently a ChargePoint 4.0 feature. This would require review by ChargePoint for feasibility and most likely would require additional programming and associated fees.

Small Business Network Design Tool

Q: Why no Category 6A (the industry is going 6A)?
A: The scope of the Small Business Network Design Tool is for smaller businesses that will typically not be using 6A networks. That being said, all feedback on the tool is appreciated; if we discover there is a need for 6A in this application, we will look at adding it.

MMUs

Q: Can a panel schedule be used in place of, or should it be in addition to, the configuration form?
A: Panel schedules contain information that may help one fill in the configuration form but a completed configuration form is required for each MMU ordered. Save with customer, project, and PO number in the file name before submitting.

Q: I notice that the MMUS are all pictured as surface mount units. Are they available as a flush mount unit or is a flush mount adaptor ring available?
A: No, surface mount enclosures currently are the only option.

Q: Can the Bill Suite be used with other manufacturers’ meters?
A: Yes, as long as there is middleware such as the Energy Monitoring Hub to collect and log pulses or Modbus data from the meters (electric, water, gas, steam, BTU, etc.)

Q: What does an electrical utility company charge to have individual meters in a utility room? This will help us sell against individual meters plus the "real estate" it takes up compared to MMU.
A: Each project will be different but a few common aspects: 1) MMUs take up less wall space and wall space = $ in new construction. 2) Retrofitting existing power distribution to accommodate socket meters used by utilities is very costly, and sometimes space is not available. MMUs all the existing power distribution to remain intact with only the addition of current transformers and an MMU panel.

Q: Are the MMUs UL Listed?
A: Yes

Q: MMUs for 3000 series?
A: Not at this time; look for Series 8000 meters to fill this need, launching in Q1 of 2013.

Q: Is there is an option on the Mini-meters to have LCD at the form of the MMU instead the mechanical counter?
A: Not at this time. If LCD displays are desired suggest the Series 2000 MMU, which works in both Single Phase and Three Phase applications.

Overhead Infrastructure Platform

Q: Do the basket tray manufacturers have anything like this? (B-Line etc.)
A: Basket tray manufacturers have products to carry basket tray. Thus far, I haven’t seen anything out there with the modularity, functionality and benefits of the OIP.

Q: Is literature available (where)?
A: Of course! The easiest source is http://www.leviton.com/oip. You can also find material on the LRC under: Network Solutions: data center: new products: OIP. We are currently working on two videos. One is a marketing video with a great virtual representation of the OIP. The other will be an instructional video showing how to install the system.

Q: What is recommended threaded rod size for mounting to slab through raised floor (1/2", 5/8", 3/4")?
A: To mount the OIP in a raised floor application use ½” threaded rod. For concrete floor installation use 5/8” diameter ½” x 13 thread Pin-Drive Anchors.

Q: Where can I find technical specifications & datasheets?
A: Spec Sheets can be found on the LRC or http://www.leviton.com/oip.

I get red to red, white to white and black to black. what do you do with ground? where does it go? sensors work, lights do not. when I switch red and black wires nothing works. Oh, 3 way install. Also where does small yellow piece of wire attach on 3 way switch?

AFCI

Q: Under current 2011 code, do you need "Combination Breaker" in front our AFCI for, Parallel protection since we only offer "Series Protection" Upstream?
A: If you have a Combination Breaker in front of our AFCI receptacle there is no need to install n AFCI receptacle. 2011 NEC allows an AFCI receptacle as first outlet but you must meet the conditions spelled out in the exceptions.

Q: If GFCI's trip at 4-6 mA, you mentioned AFCI trips within several cycles, what should we say?
A: You should say these meet all requirements of UL 1699A for OBC AFCIs. Actual trip times are dependent on the type of arc and amount of current

Q: Will this be required in the "Hospitality" industry, as well as "Dorm" rooms at Colleges & Universities & Private schools?
A: Currently not required in those locations and I’m not aware of any proposals for the 2014 NEC regarding this.

Q: What if contractor/home owner wires a device Up or Down stream "HOT," will the arc trip AFCI?
A: I believe one of the first lines in almost all of our instructions is to shut off power.

Q: Does our receptacle have filtering in it to protect against false tripping?
A: Yes

Q: Can a GFCI be on an AFCI protected branch circuit?
A: Yes

Q: Since a conduit is required to each AFCI receptacle- there is no retrofit application allowed is there? Wouldn’t you have to meet the conduit requirement?
A: For branch circuit extensions or modifications please see 210.12(B)

Q: Does an AFCI need to be installed at every protection point or can they be used in feed thru setup like GFCI's?
A: They provide feed-through protection similar to the way a GFCI does.

Q: Would NEC 406-4D require that the wiring back to the panel be changed out as well? Or will the AFCI install suffice?
A: The AFCI will suffice; no need to change any wiring

Q: Physically is the AFCI the same size as the new low profile GFI or the old style GFI size?
A: Approximately the same size

Q: I have one that I've been testing and it has never tripped, how do you test to see if it is indeed working. There are GFCI testers but I'm not aware of an AFCI tester. Your thoughts?
A: Best way to test is using the TEST and RESET buttons. I am not aware of a suitable external tester; if you see one please let me know.

Q: If the code doesn't accept this until 2014, why would someone install now?
A: Some localities and buildings already use some of the allowable wiring methods and 210.12(B) allows for use on modifications and extensions to branch circuits. There is also nothing preventing someone from installing to add protection even though there is no requirement.

Q: Would these 'cover' for aluminum wiring?
A: These are not CO/ALR devices. If you have approved copper or copper clad pigtails you can use on circuits with aluminum wiring.

Q: Because of the current code saying receptacle must be encased and within 10 feet of panel, and because of this there may be a bank of AFCI receptacles in close proximity of the panel, does a blank face AFCI make sense?
A: The code does not have a length restriction but a blank face certainly does make sense and we plan on making these available.

Q: For 2011 replacement installations, do the conductors have to be in conduit all the way to the first receptacle?
A: 2011 Code for replacement receptacles does not take effect until 2014 but there is no conduit requirement.

Q: How does an AFCI receptacle handle an upstream parallel arc?
A: An AFCI receptacle does not provide upstream parallel arc protection. It does provide upstream series arc protection.

Q: Like the GFCI is there a cable length and number of devices we limit downstream for the AFCI?
A: The AFCI receptacles offer 20A feed-through protection and are able to provide protection for the entire allowable branch circuit length and number of receptacles. The allowable length of the branch circuit and number of receptacles are determined using other sections of the NEC.

Q: Would it be a good idea to replace a GFCI with an AFCI for better protection in the home?
A: NO – they offer different types of protection.

Q: What must be done when an inspector does merger testing on the overall installation? Currently if there are issues we have them disconnect the GFCI.
A: Same issues as GFCIs

Q: Where is it manufactured?
A: China

Q: Does every receptacle in a bedroom need to be arc fault or is there downstream protection
A: There is feed-through (downstream protection)

Q: Is this item cUL or CSA approved?
A: UL/CUL/Fed Spec

Q: In NEC 406.6 Replacement Rec. - does the contractor have to use MC cable from the sub panel to the AFCI
A: There is no need to change the wiring.

HAI

Q: How does our Omnistat2 compare to the "Nest" which is a Round Thermostat, like the Old round Honeywell, but Hi-Tech
A: The Nest is designed for cloud based connectivity and does not talk to any other devices or systems in the building. The Omnistat2 is also much less expensive and does not interfere with the set points established by the customer like the Nest does.

Q: Does HAI provide products to Comcast & Verizon, since they are advertising complete Home Automation Controls, Lighting, Security, Temperature, Cameras & controls, from anywhere controlled by the "Cloud"?
A: No, HAI does not work with those providers at this time.

Q: Will you have CSA approvals?
A: Yes.

Q: If I want to control my thermostat and a light switch of two via a smartphone what else do i need?
A: Right now, you need an Omni or Lumina controller. This will automate your devices, and allow for remote access.

Q: Are there interference or "noise" issues with the HAI UBK signal?
A: In 99.9% of installations, no. However, we do offer a variety of noise cancelling devices in unique installations.

Q: Does HAI sell anything via Amazon?
A: Yes, “HAI by Leviton” products are direct from HAI and feature warranty and technical support. About 1/5th of HAI’s SKU’s are on Amazon (70-80 products).

Q: How do I find out who the Five Star dealers are in my territory?
A: Homeauto.com/HowToBuy – type in your zip code and you can see all dealers within 50 miles.

Q: Do you certify installers and if so how do I find out who in my area is a certified installer?
A: We do not “certify” installing dealers. Visit homeauto.com/howtobuy to search for a dealer that is “listed” – one who has completed training courses and at least three installs. Five Star Dealers are likely the most knowledgeable.

Q: Will Vizia RF be integrated in with Vizia RF?
A: HAI already controls Vizia RF modules, and has supported Leviton products for decades.

Q: Do you have pig tailed modules?
A: No, our modules are designed with an enclosure rather than a bare board.

Q: Can we use HAI to replace DHC that is installed in existing homes?
A: Yes. HAI’s UPB is DHC on Steroids, with far more reliability and strength.

Q: Did you typically install products. If not, did you sell more to electrical or mechanical contractors
A: We sell to distributors who then pass the product along to installing dealers. Electrical, mechanical, security, AV, and other installers comprise our dealer base.

Q: What protocol do you operate on?
A: We’re open. We control ZigBee, Z-Wave, X-10, RF, UPB, and many audio/lighting protocols including KNX, etc. We have apps for iOS, Windows, and Android devices.

Q: Any Android apps for home theatre?
A: Not at this moment. Android CAN control distributed audio systems, but not currently complete AV systems.

Q: How are you handling automated door locks?
A: We work with ZigBee and Z-Wave manufacturers for wireless door locks. Also manufacture our own hard-wired door lock and can integrate with other hard-wired door locks.

Q: How are you handling the sales to the SmartGrid utility companies? Are you selling them direct
A: Yes, Smart grid products sell directly to the utility/energy company right now.

Q: are all these products CSA, cULC, or cULcertified ?
A: Our products hold a variety of certifications based on their market and type. Our security/automation systems are UL Listed for both burg and fire protection, and we have a model that is commercially rated as well.

Q: Are the dealers installers?
A: The majority of our dealers are installers. Some contract the work out.

Q: Do all Dealers listed by HAI buy direct?
A: There isn’t a single dealer who buys direct. We offer distribution sales, and now we offer e-Sales via Amazon.

Q: Are the 4X4 and 8x8 HI FI systems Analog or Digital
A: Class D Digital amplification.

Q: iPad cost is not free...it is $50ish...on the iTunes site.
A: We have two free apps on the iTunes store “HTX2” and “Hi-Fi2”, stand-alone apps for our AV controller and our distributed audio system. We also have Snap-Link available for $50, which controls the entire home. That $50 is a one-time fee without subscriptions or site/device licenses.

Q: Are the products available to Latin America?
A: Yes. We sell in 80 countries as of right now.

Q: Is HAI lighting control going to replace Vizia RF products?
A: We see these working in conjunction with one another. UPB works great in most instances, but in MDU’s for instance, Vizia RF shines. We see room in the market for all of these lines.

Q: Do we have BacNet and LonWorks solutions?
A: Not at this time, but we are always adding support for new protocols.

Q: Integration to Smart Phones for off-site control?
A: Yes. Android, iPhone…

Q: Are the omnibus line voltage products cUL or CSA approved?
A: Approvals are pending.

Q: Does the C3 work with Canadian cellular providers
A: Yes.

Q: Will the UPB products be compatible with existing DHC installations?
A: Absolutely. Simply pull out those switches and replace with HAI switches.

Q: Can we give access to our customers to generate a PDF or is this something we are not ok giving access?

A: Ok to give access to distributor customers – they have access to the same information.

Q: Will our distributors have access to the estimator?

A: Yes.

Q: Does the Zipline Cost for Fixture include lamps?

A: No, the lamp costs are a separate line item.

Q: Where did we obtain the Zipline vs standard labor for savings? And what is the % of savings?

A: The labor savings information was taken from a combination of lamp manufacturing, industry and government agency websites.

Q: Is there a way to change the operating hours (makes a 24/7 facility proposal more accurate)?

A: The annual operating hours line item is a data entry field.

Q: What is that DSIRE acronym stand for again?

Q: Can this software interface with utility companies to automatically update $/kWh info or does the end user have to manually input the rates as they change?

A. No automatic update feature included at this time

Q: Can one multiple building apartment complex use one Bill Suite system?

A: Yes.

Q: My power bill itemizes 11 different charges and credits. Does our system handle that?

A: The platform has multiple custom charge fields that are customizable by end user to deal with differences in utility rate structures throughout the county.

Q: Can you add meters to the software at a later date? Start with 100 and add 100 meters?
A: Yes, but you may have buy the expanded package when you exceed the upper limit of the package you initially purchase.

Q: Is the data emailed or pushed from the HUB to the software? Or does it have to be retrieved?
A: The HUB pushes data to the software.

Q: Will this software interface with the 'Historian' database for an end-user?
A: Not at this time.

Q: For the Canadian marketplace, do you know if there is a requirement for Weights and Measures approval of the software or is it just the meters that need approval?
A: Typically just meters and CT’s.

Q: Are we limited to electricity or can we bill for other utilities like water and gas?
A: We can handle all utilities.

Q: Remote access??
A: Yes, via a remote PC access program like PC anywhere. However, it is a site based software

Q: How will this work outside USA?
A: Sure, but translated versions not yet available.

Q: And pricing--Will it include the training?
A: Training and stat up for the end user-one day

Q: Does this eliminate the programming meters cost, and monthly recurring costs, by 3rd parties to provide tenant billing?
A: When software is sold with meters, system start up and training are included. There are no recurring fees; just a one-time cost.

Need help locating a Leviton keyless socket

I have an antique light fixture with a smaller brass Leviton keyless socket. I don't think it is a candelabra socket. The brass outer shell measures 3/4" wide and is 2" long. The metallic socket is 5/8" wide. Does anyone know what size bulb will fit and do you know of a source that I can buy these brass keyless sockets???

I am replacing a switch in a ceiling fan with a LEV 168950 four position switch.

The switch which I am replacing was set up for: Off, Low, Medium and High.

The switch was connected to four wires - black, gray, brown, purple - to locations marked L, 1, 2, and 3 respectively on the switch itself.

The LEV 168950 has only three wires mounted to it - black, red and blue - connected to locations marked L, 1,and 2 respectively.

How should I wire the LEV 168950?

Attached is a photo of the transformer(?) in the ceiling fan showing the four wires which were connected to the switch.

Universal Sensor

Q: Why does the IPS15 need Sensor Remote IPV0R where the other products can just use a 3-Way Switch?
A: IPS15 and IPV15 were designed to replace the IPP15 which uses a sensor remote

Q: These sensors are considered residential not commercial?
A: Yes, however the IPS15 and IPV15 is light commercial

Q: What is the load max for LED and CFL? Still 600?
A: the IPS15 and IPV15 has a 600W LED/CFL rating. The dimmer sensor IPSD6/IPVD6 has 150W rating for dimmable LED/CFL

Q: What color change kits are available? Will we have brown? Gray? Black?
A: Brown will be available as a kit in October. Gray will be available in November.

Q: Why doesn't the IPS15 show 15 Amp on the literature or in the power point?
A: The rating will be added to the literature

Q: Light Almond color kit designation "LA" vs "T"?
A: Light Almond is designated at “T”

Q: Is there a minimum load requirement for these sensors?
A: No

Q: Can you please go back and explain how to convert from occ sensor to vacancy sensor again?
A: The ambient light sensitivity should be turned counter clock wise which simulates a fully lit room

Q: Explain again- vacancy can't be changed to occupancy, but occupancy can be change to vacancy…is that correct?
A: Only the occupancy sensor has the ability to convert to a vacancy detector. The requirements of CA T24 prohibit changing a vacancy sensor.

Q: The ips05 is not a true 2 wire...correct?
A: it does require a ground connection also

Q: Compatible with both rapid start and instant start?
A: Yes, the relay sensors are compatible with fluorescent ballasts

Q: Is the remote a Vizia style switch or a Decora style switch?
A: The IPV0R is a Decora style switch

USB Charger/TR Receptacle

Q: You said if we plug an iPad into the "lower" charge side, it would charge but will not come up with the charging icon. Correct?
A: Correct

Q: You said we should plug a second I-Pad into the "lower?”
A: If you intend on charging 2 tablets we recommend using the receptacle for one and the right USB for the other

Q: Is there some visual indication that the charger has shut down due to overloading or other problems?
A: The devices will show the device is not charging

Q: After the charger shuts down, how is the unit re-energized? When the USB ports shut down due to overload, will they "reset" when overload is removed?
A: The device will reset and commence charging again. This is referred to as a Hiccup mode.

Q: When the charger shuts down due to excessive power draw, is there an indicator light to alert the user that their device is not charging?
A: The devices that are charging will show that they are not charging. Once the condition has subsided the charging will continue.

Renoir II

Q: Please explain reverse phasing.
A: Reverse phase – chops back ½ of sine wave instead of front ½. Sometimes loads will work with reverse phase but not forward phase dimming.

Q: Will we offer, in wallplates, all small, all large dimmers, no fins broken, fins broken, and combinations of small and large? Where do we find the list?
A: We will be stocking 1-4 dimmer wall plates with and without fins. Larger plates will be made to order 4-6 week lead time.

Q: Are we still going to have plates that are "fins broken" and "No fins broken" style or will they all be one format?
A: Yes we will still offer both plates styles.

Q: Please address LED a little more. Just had an application last week with LED high hats, dimming application, and to be honest I was lost. I think this will become more and more common
A: LED drivers are not standard and not regulated so a vast number of manufacturers are developing their own drivers. Most common is 0-10VDC type and ELV.

Q: The picture shows it protruding from the wallplate. Is that a mistake or does it sit flush?
A: It sits flush.

Q: Can you use more than one remote for 4-way applications?
A: Yes.

Q: The Old Renoir II offered a load disconnect switch on dimmer, so that the electrician can change out dimmer without going to the panel and turning off the complete circuit, does new model have this same feature? This was a great selling point to maintenance facilities.
A: Yes – it is the air gap switch.
